Caleb gazes at her.  He stands behind her, his pose relaxed, loose-limbed, the demeanor of someone comfortable with his body and his power.   He has the calm, natural, androgynous grace and sensuality of an ancient Greek god.

“Maybe you’re better off, too,” he observes.
“I just feel so terrible for what I did to him,” she laments.

“Someone who truly loves you doesn’t give up,” he points out.
“Yeah, well, I betrayed him,” she admits.

“You betrayed me, too,” he reminds her.  “Did I walk away?  Have I given upon on you for even one moment?  You tried to kill me, and still I’m here, in love with you.”

“You’ve never stopped,” she replies, amazed.

“And I never will because what I feel for you is beyond boundaries.  It’s beyond anything you ever could experience with Jack,” he exclaims.  “Think about it.  Think about a love that has no end and no matter what happens, it’s there for you forever.”

“Forever,” she echoes, as he gently fondles her face.
