"No, not now," Livvie says sadly. "Now that Jack's back."
"Is he?" Caleb asks. "You lay awake at night wondering. Feeling he doesn't seem . . .quite right. Not the man you
fell in love with . . ."
"How could you," Olivia says, surprised that Caleb knows what she feels deep inside.
"I know a lot about you, Olivia," Caleb states.
"Jack's been in a terrible accident. He . . ."
"Hmmm," Caleb smiles knowingly. "But you were already thinking that beforehand. About how he changed."
"No," Olivia persists.
"Don't try to deny it," Caleb persuades her. "I know."
"But I told you," she repeats. "I'm in love with Jack."
Caleb walks around her, circling her slowly, gracefully, first in front of her, then in back of her, all the while
soothing, stroking her, so delicately as if she were made of the most fragile and priceless china.
"He doesn't deserve you," he says, behind her now, whispering huskily in her ear. "You deserve the world. You
should come see my world. A place where your every desire will be fulfilled. Beyond anything you can ever
imagine. You want that, don't you?" He touches her shoulder.
Olivia says nothing, looking at him, mesmerized.
"Then come with me," Caleb says, extending his hand. "You're not afraid of me. You know that."
Caleb takes Livvie's hand as they go from the alley and reappear in Caleb's cave. He leads Livvie through the
darkly radiant chambers of the cave. There is a sense of sacred mystery mixed with eroticism-- the reddish light
of candles echoing the flow of blood and the pulsating passion Caleb is beginning to evoke in Livvie.
"Where are we?" Olivia asks, in awe.
"Welcome home," Caleb says as the scene ends.
