Taunting and toying with his foes, Caleb, like his adversaries, seeks the vulnerabilities that undermine resistance.
Although seething from within, Caleb externalizes his tumultuous anger, projecting it onto the forces of nature,
which rage and sizzle in the background as he calmly, leisurely enacts his revenge on all those who thwart his
divine "destiny."
Throughout this episode, Caleb visits each of his enemies. He travels from one to another, an unshakeable, shared
nightmare, his presence lingering amongst them all as a collective contagion.
First he visits Gabby, the only one who hasn't as yet betrayed him. Despite her vows to her pastor and Jamal,
she is unable to resist Caleb's allure. Still in love with him, she is the only one who refuses to take part in his
destruction. Although Jamal had instructed her to lure Caleb out and tell him Eve was ready to give birth to "his"
baby, Gabby, instead, summons him in order to warn him. He appears to her on the hospital roof, icily,
unearthly beautiful, a betrayed, disdainful god visiting his untrustworthy flock.
"I'm so sorry," Gabby hesitates, nervous. "I shouldn't have called you."
"Why did you?" he asks, his hair blowing in the tempest.
"Jamal came to me," Gabby explains. "He wanted me to tell you that Eve was having her baby, but she's not.
It's a trick. They were planning to destroy you."
"It's OK," Caleb smiles scornfully. "I expected some kind of pathetic response from these people." His lip curls
up in a snarl. "They have no idea."
"What are you going to do now?" she says fearfully.
"Make them suffer for trying to keep me from my destiny." He touches her throat, a reminder of his caress as
well as his crushing strength, his power to arouse as well as destroy. "Then I.m going to take what's mine."

As Caleb vanishes from the roof, he appears in a hospital room with Jack and Livvie. When Livvie sees him
suddenly perched on the counter, her eyes go wide with fright.
"Now, is that any way to greet your husband?" he smiles, arching his eyebrows. He dangles his legs from the
counter, as if completely relaxed, at ease and in control.
"You stay away from her," Jack warns.
"Now why would I want to stay away from my beautiful wife?" Caleb teases, emphasizing his possession of
Livvie.
"She's not yours and she never will be," Jack bristles.
"You say that like you almost believe it," Caleb smirks.
"I said stay back," Jack threatens as Caleb gets up from the counter.
"Just stretching," Caleb says, moving his shoulders in a parody of a stretch. "Don't worry, I'm going to take my
time with you all tonight. Scared, Jack? Olivia? You should be. Tonight's going to be the longest night of your
life. You'll see. You can't get in the way of destiny. No one can. But that doesn't mean I can't have a good time
along the way," he smirks again, then abruptly vanishes.
