As the scene briefly flashes to the Port Charles hospital and Eve's ultrasound test revealing that her baby is a boy, Caleb and Michael's conversation continues. "You're planning a family with somebody else's child, somebody else's love," Michael reproaches Caleb. "I'm not going to force Olivia to do anything," Caleb replies, still supremely confident. "And I won't have to force your precious Eve either. They'll both give me what I want out of their own free will." "On top of everything else, you are delusional, Caleb," Michael observes. "Apparently, you're forgetting that I'm the twin with all the charisma," Caleb brags, stretching again, relaxed about his power. "And more cursed than Satan himself," Michael mutters. "Oh, c'mon," Caleb coaxes, his expression beguilingly playful. "Don't go away mad. Don't you wanna be here when Olivia shows up?" "She won't," Michael insists. "What makes you so sure?" Caleb smiles. "My faith is stronger than your evil," Michael sermonizes. As this episode concludes, we see Livvie finding her way to Caleb's cave while Caleb lounges on his silk pillows. "Olivia, I've been waiting for you," Caleb calmly tells her, reminding us that Caleb, once again, has triumphed, the so-called "evil" side of his psyche stronger and more potent, more vital than his repressive "good" Father Michael persona. ******************************************* The next episode contrasts the desperate vampire-addicts Gabby and Jack with the calculated, calm master vampire, Caleb. As Gabby embraces her addiction and Jack fights his, Caleb, with consummate control, bends Livvie's will ever closer to surrender. The episode begins with Gabby strolling into a rowdy tavern, her sultry glamour very conspicuous in this seedy, slovenly haven of raunchy toughs and trashy women. A stunning image of leather-clad seduction, Gabby walks up to the bar and, when asked "what's your pleasure.--glass of white?" she replies, "Make it red." Even the bartender, no doubt used to dangerous sorts, remarks, "You sure look like trouble," and she knowingly responds, "You have no idea." When a man offers to buy her a drink, she arrogantly looks him up and down, then snidely rejects him, looking for someone more to her "taste". She finds what she's seeking, in this case a burly guy, who, just happens to be accompanied by a woman. Abruptly asking the man to dance, she warns the angry girlfriend, "If you enjoy breathing, you'll get lost." Then she leads the man outside and starts nibbling on him, but when he demands satisfaction, she rejects his advances and roughly twists his arm. |
