"Well, who can explain chemistry between a man and a woman in love?" Caleb replies. He kneels down, looks into her eyes, and licks his lips again. "See the thing is . . . " Livvie pauses. "The man sounded exactly like you." "Well, how did she describe him?" Caleb asks. "Exciting, handsome, irresistible," Livvie shyly answers. "And you thought of me?" Caleb says in mock surprise. "Look," Livvie begins, finally getting to the real reason underlying her visit, the jealousy she already feels towards a supposed rival. "I just came here to ask you if you were seducing women all over Port Charles. Because it sounds like you are." "It sounds like you're jealous," Caleb observes. "I'm NOT jealous," Livvie insists, nervously biting her lips. "I'm . . . I'm just curious, that's all." "Because there's no reason to be jealous," Caleb assures her. "I'll admit. There have been many women in my life." (As he says this, she looks upset, perhaps a bit disappointed.) "But there's never been anybody like you." "But, Caleb, you hardly even know me," she argues, weakly, without much conviction. "Do you really believe that?" Caleb once again challenges her. "I can see inside you. I can see how you really are. And I think . . .[his voice turning lower, huskier] you see me too. I know you do. Come on, Olivia. Take a look. What's stopping you? Hmm? I don't bite." He gently touches her face and turns it towards him. "It's amazing," Livvie sighs. "The way you talk to me--the way you look at me. It's like I've known you forever . . . It's like . . ." "Nothing you've ever experienced before," Caleb says, finishing her thought. "And it's only the beginning. Say the word and I'll give you the world." "Oh, Caleb. We shouldn't be talking like this . . . I. . ." Livvie says, reverting back to her familiar refrain. "I mean, I am involved with someone wonderful." "Yet you're here," Caleb persists. "With me and not with Jack. Well, that's got to hurt a guy." "Yeah . . . I didn't exactly tell him I was coming here," Livvie confesses. "I wasn't sure he'd understand that . . . " "It's my face you see in your dream," Caleb concludes, reminding her of the visions she has of him when in bed with Jack and reminding us of our secret desires, our fantasy infidelities unknown by our partners. "No," Livve says, turning away. "It's my name on your lips when you wake up," he adds. "How do you know?" Livvie admits. "You love Jack," Caleb explains patiently. "You love him like a schoolgirl loves, nice and sweet. But you want me with the passion of a woman." |
