Although the next episode does not feature Caleb (except in flashbacks taking place in the thoughts of Gabby and Livvie), he is, as always, an invisible presence shaping the behavior of all those whose lives he has touched. The main events  (Gabby's attempts to seduce and turn Jamal, Jack's revelation to Alison that he is a vampire, and Kevin and Lucy's confrontation with Livvie involving Caleb) are continued in subsequent episodes.

Livvie shows her rebellious, defiant spirit, when, commanded by Kevin to stay away from Caleb, she refuses to follow her father's orders. Although Kevin and Lucy try to convince Livvie that Caleb is dangerous, perhaps even a murderer, Livvie insists that Caleb is "very sweet," " a perfect gentleman" she is for some reason unable to resist. Trying to decide whether Caleb is a "Don Juan" or a serial killer, Lucy inadvertently stumbles upon Caleb's secret when she happens to overhear a movie on television describing vampires as being "hypnotic" and "seductive." Meanwhile Kevin makes plans to forcibly prevent Livvie from seeing Caleb.

Caleb's seductive powers, as well as his danger, are vividly demonstrated in the subsequent episode when Caleb visits Gabby after her failed attempt to turn Jamal. Unable to bring herself to bite Jamal, Gabby wonders why she cannot do as Caleb instructed. "What happened to me? Why couldn't I do it?" she asks herself.

"Good question," Caleb answers, suddenly appearing in her apartment. He leans sullenly against the drapes and stares at her coldly, reproachfully.

"Caleb, I am SO sorry," Gabby says, startled and apprehensive.

"And I am so disappointed in you," Caleb replies. "Your first big test. And you blew it. Now what am I going to do with you?" [Caleb starts to walk towards Gabby].
"Jamal's supplying Jack with blood from the hospital. And that's a no-no. I gave you specific instructions." He touches her shoulder and moves behind her. "What
part of 'turn him on' didn't you understand? You just open a vein and bite. It's hardly rocket science."

"Look, I got Jamal here," she explains, turning around to face him. "I was really looking forward to feeding on him, turning him into one of us."

"But you didn't" Caleb says, looking at her sternly, his lips
clenched. He walks away. "Have you been snacking between meal?" he scolds.
"No. It just felt wrong. Look, I swear I will do better next time," she promises as Caleb sits on the counter, looking at her with disapproval.
"You have so much potential, my sweet." Caleb curls his lip slightly, a partial snarl, revealing the threat behind the endearment and charm. "But you're no good to me if you can't do what you're told." He pouts sadly and beguilingly. "I don't know. Maybe I made a mistake with you." As he begins walking towards her again, Gabby looks frightened.
